Online Sabbath School Options for Kids

Foster Memorial SDA Church (YouTube) www.YouTube.com/fosterchurch

At 9:00 a.m. on Sabbaths, they have a YouTube LIVE Sabbath School for kids (about 15 minutes or so) and then families can go to another pre-recorded YouTube video with the Bible lesson for their age group/class.  All of the videos are on the Foster Church YouTube Channel, under the Children’s Ministry playlist.

>>IDEA FOR YOU TO USE:  An important part of keeping our kids connected with Jesus and with the church is for the Sabbath School teachers to keep in touch by making a call to talk and pray with their Sabbath School kids, or by writing a note &/or sending a special package.

Courtney Jimenez is the Children’s Pastor at Foster.  She sends out what she calls a “Sabbath Surprise” package with such things as the children’s papers, a simple Sabbath game, devotional materials (to encourage family worship) and/or materials for a craft activity.  Included with that is a note from her or Pastor Patrick Williams.  She also records a video showing how to do the craft that is included in the package.  In addition, Courtney also reads stories out of Our Little Friend on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  She “Zooms” with her youth class.

Tammy Vaughan reads stories straight out of the Primary Treasure on her Sabbath School’s YouTube: MPASDAC Primary. Here is the link:

For Sabbath School, their target audience is for 1st through 3rd graders, although if kids are younger or older, they are welcome to join.  You’ll need a camera and microphone on your computer or phone to join in with the Zoom meeting.  They sing a few songs (and hope the children sing along!), share the highs and lows of the week, review last week’s lesson and watch the GraceLink Bible lesson.  Then, they do a craft together.  If your kids would like to be prepared to do a craft with them, you may e-mail Tammy and she’ll add your child(ren) to her list of kids.

You do not have to have a Zoom account – when you go to the site (through this link), in very small print it will say “join without creating account” and if you click that it will take you right to the meeting. They start at 10:00 each week.  Because Zoom is limiting times to 40 minutes, they don’t start much before then.

Other Options

In addition to these Sabbath School programs for which I received information, you may connect with Sabbath School programs going on in other churches in various parts of the United States. Go to the NAD Children’s Ministries website for a list of churches that are broadcasting children’s Sabbath School classes www.childmin.org or go to Advent Source at www.adventsource.org, where you will find many resources for Sabbath School teachers, parents and children.  As we receive information, we will be updating and sharing it via e-mail and on our Carolina Conference website and Facebook page.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Blessings, Kathy Russell, Carolina Conference Children’s Ministries Director
